28th June 2014 at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool
Following the tragic death of rising star jockey Campbell Gillies, whilst on holiday in June 2012, his family and friends received an enormous amount of help and support from the Injured Jockeys Fund . This help and support was invaluable to them at a time when they were struggling to cope with the devastating reality of what had happened.
As anybody who met Campbell will testify he was a fun loving cheeky chap with a hugely promising career as a top national hunt jockey in front of him. He had already achieved a massive amount in a short period of time, an Aintree winner and a Cheltenham Festival winner already to his credit.
As a thank you to the Injured Jockeys Fund and to help highlight the excellent work they do Campbell's family and friends organised a ball and auction in June 2013 at Aintree Racecourse in Campbell's memory which raised £30,000!!!
The evening was such a huge success that we are organising the 2nd Campbell Gillies Memorial Ball at Aintree Racecourse, with proceeds from the evening being donated to the Injured Jockeys Fund.
